Update 0n tax exempt status:

Due to the budget crunch in California, we’re not going to have tax exempt status ’til about the end of the month.  Apparently the budget shortfalls have created a staff shortage for the CA government and it’s taken longer to process these types of things.  So, it’s still in process, but will take a few more weeks.

Great news – due to a generous donor, we will soon have a non-profit charitable corporation established in Penelope’s honor.  We should have all the paperwork filed and receive our official non-profit status within two weeks.  This will not only help us solicit more donations for Penelope’s treatments, but enable us to help other families stricken with this terrible cancer after our little girl wins her battle with this disease.  – Aaron

So, many of you know this, but for those that don’t – in May of last year when the economy hit bottom  – the software company that I’ve worked for, for the last 5 years, decided to make me an independent contractor.  By doing so they eliminated my base salary as well as all medical and dental benefits and put me on a commission only pay scale.  So, I bought an individual policy for Penelope.  But, you can’t get the same level of coverage with an individual policy as you can with a group plan.  She has a Blue Shield insurance policy, but it only covers 60% of the health care costs.  As you all can imagine, Penelope’s treatments are extremely costly – and having to pay 40% is adding up quickly.  In addition, our policy does not have any coverage for name brand prescriptions, only generic.  That being said, any and all donations will go towards paying for Penelope’s treatments and medical equipment – whether it’s $1 or $1,000,000  any and all donations are greatly appreciated. – Aaron
